Kickstarter update: our podcast plans

Meeting our target means JamesInTurkey.com can grow in ways we hadn’t expected

Meeting our target means JamesInTurkey.com can grow in ways we hadn’t expected

I’m delighted to report that the funding drive this website launched last month has exceeded its target by some distance, which is more than I could possibly have imagined.

I’ve decided to use any additional funds raised between now and deadline day on Saturday 13 May to fund a podcast on Turkish politics.

My plans are still taking shape, but my thinking is for a series that covers the issues, not the events.

The podcast wouldn’t necessarily respond to the president’s latest remarks or the internal ructions in the opposition, but rather examine the themes that drive Turkish politics.

So not a minister’s incendiary remark about women, but a look at the role of women in society. Not a list of AK Party statistics on their achievements in office, but a study of the gap between the country’s richest and poorest people. That kind of thing.

If you’ve already donated: I’m very, very grateful. If you haven’t but are interested in doing so, you can do so by going to the Kickstarter page.

Thank you,

Michael
